John Malcom Rhodes was born in British India, on 9th march 1939, of English missionary parents. Eldest of a family of three, John came to Britain in September 1945. Educated at Canon Slade Grammar School in Bolton, and later at North Manchester Grammar School in Chadderton, and St John's College of Further Education in Manchester. Met Elsie while on a walking holiday in the Lake District, and married in October 1967, at St George's Church in Cullercoats Northumberland. Father of 3 sons, Alex, Christopher and Angus. Motor Engineer by trade & profession, Manager of Forestry Commission engineering workshops at Halwill (Devon), Glenbranter (West Scotland) and Bellingham (Northumberland). - Diocesan Reader CofE. in Newcastle Diocese 1997 ad
